Bulk revoke permissions from Shared Drives using delegation
Remove user or group access across multiple Shared Drives in one operation, ensuring compliance or rapid offboarding.

The problem
When a user leaves or a group’s permissions change, their access often persists across dozens or hundreds of Shared Drives. Manual removal is slow and incomplete, leading to data exposure.
How it works
- List all Shared Drives where the target user or group has direct or inherited access.
- For each Shared Drive, enumerate all permissions and identify those matching the user or group.
- Impersonate a privileged admin account and call the Drive API to remove the relevant permissions.
- Log every revocation attempt and result for audit purposes.
- Optionally, notify resource managers of the changes.
What changes
Access is revoked everywhere in minutes, not days, closing the window for data leaks and meeting audit requirements.
Questions people ask
Does this remove access inherited via groups?
No, removing a group from a Shared Drive only breaks direct group access. Users nested in multiple groups or with direct and indirect access may need multiple revocation passes.
How can I confirm revocations completed?
Poll the Drive API after a delay, not instantly, and reconcile with audit logs rather than relying on an immediate API response.
Want this built?
This is a pattern we run in production. We will set up the delegation and build this on top of it — $500 per hour, most of it working the same day.
